As part of efforts to bring to an end, the challenges of insecurity facing parts of Niger state and the country at large, Muslim Ummah in all the headquarters of the Eight Emirates in the State, have held a special prayer session seeking God’s intervention.
This is also as Governor Abubakar Sani Bello noted that no fewer than 10,000 persons have been displaced by banditory in Niger state.
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Emir of Minna, Alh. Umar Farouk Bahago and other top government functionaries were part of the Muslim faithful that converged at the Minna Central Mosque for the prayers.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mary Noel-Berje.
Governor Bello explained that the call for the special prayer was to seek Allah’s guidance and protection against the activities of the bandits that were maiming and killing innocent citizens as well as destroying properties.
He said the prayers session was to touch their hearts to stop their nefarious activities, adding that government has put in place robust strategic security measures to end banditry.
He regretted that the menace of banditory has displaced about 10, 000 people in the State.
