BREAKING: For plotting to remove him, Imo speaker suspends four lawmarkers

 

There was tension at the Imo State House of Assembly complex in Owerri, the state capital, on Tuesday, as the speaker, Chike Olemgbe, suspended four lawmarkers over an alleged plot to impeach him and the other principal lawmarkers of the parliament.

A brief plenary held under right security watch, saw the speaker alleged that four of his 26 other colleagues were plotting to unsettle the smooth running of the 10th Assembly.

He said that the decision to suspend the four erring lawmarkers was reached at the Executive Session of the Assembly on Tuesday.

Olemgbe announced that lawmarkers, Dominic Ezerioha( Oru West), Samuel Otuibe ( Ezinihitte Mbaise) Samuel Otuibe ( Ahiazu Mbaise) and Chidiebere Ogbunikpa ( Okigwe) have been suspended from the parliament for suspectedly working against the interest of the Assembly.

He warned that his leadership would not tolerate lawmarkers who work against the interest of the Assembly.

The suspended four lawmarkers are ranking legislators while the speaker emerged the leader of the parliament as a first time lawmaker.

After announcing their immediate suspensions, the speaker also disclosed that the committees headed by the now suspended lawmakers had been dissolved.

He thereafter announced the adjournment of the plenary to a later date and hurriedly left the complex.
