The controller heading the Federal Operations Unit (FOU)  Zone C of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Owerri, Comptroller Kayode Olusemire, Thursday morning rescued five victims of a road accident, which occurred in Oraifite along Owerri-Onitsha Expressway in Anambra State.

The accident involved a Lexus ES 350 car, carrying members of one family and whose driver lost control immediately he negotiated the bend and rammed into the road median before somersaulting.

The Customs zonal controller, who was on an official assignment to Benin City, ran into the accident scene where the vehicle was already smoking with the fear that it may burst into flames without timely intervention.

Swinging into action and mobilizing his men, all the occupants in the affected vehicles were swiftly pulled out from the roof of the vehicle and rescued unhurt under the close supervision of the Customs boss.

The smoking parts of the vehicle were also extinguished.

The incident caused a gridlock on the expressway as Olusemire and his men pulled the vehicle out of the road.

He thereafter urged private vehicles drivers and other road users to be mindful of Highway Codes to avoid unnecessary road mishaps.
