Fact Check: Not an internet fraudster! Video of yahoo boy barking like dog till he died is a movie set —and it happened in 2019

A video which claims to show an internet fraudster in Nigeria barking like a dog as he spits up blood and dies, has continued to circulate on social media platforms especially in WhatsApp groups.

The video shared by users on WhatsApp claimed that incident happened recently in Ogbomoso in Oyo State, Nigeria.

 

The claim attached to the video reads, “THE TRUE DIVIDENDS OF QUICK MONEY“
“Yahoo boy in Ogbomoso. He is a student. He owns 5 exotic SUVs. Lives in a super large mansion. He is a yahoo plus internet fraudstar. He died this morning barking like a dog.

Verification

Verifying this, we discovered that the producer of the movie Damilola Adekoya has posted the same video, saying “it’s a film” set to be released, titled “Olajimi”.

We also found a Facebook post sharing a “behind the scenes” clip of the filming, which shows a camera crew alongside the man sitting on the floor by the car.

When the video was subjected to a verification technology, we saw the Nollywood Actor King Patto who uploaded the same video of Instagram showed him acting a scene in an upcoming film.

King Patto added a caption warning against internet fraud to the original video that appears to have been taken out of context. “YAHOO BOY BARK TO DEATH IN LAGOS… SAY NO TO YAHOO PLUS + ❌❌❌,” the actor wrote in a post shared from the Lekki district of Lagos.

Many comments on Facebook confirmed that the video was a movie set.

Verdict

The claim attached to the video that a Yahoo boy barking like a dog till he died, is Misleading.

The video was actually a movie scene in 2019.
