Nigerian Twitter influencer ‘commits suicide’ — hours after seeking financial help

A Nigerian Twitter influencer simply identified as Tunde has allegedly committed suicide — less than 24 hours after posting that he was in dire need of money.

Tunde, better known as Tuneri, had taken to the microblogging platform on Tuesday to seek financial help.

“I need money like mad, Jesus,” he had written in a terse post which has over 2,000 likes and more than 900 retweets as of the time of this report.

According to his friends on Twitter, Tunde battled depression due to lack of money before taking his own life.

While TheCable Lifestyle is yet to independently confirm Tunde’s demise, a lady who claimed to be his girlfriend narrated how she got the tragic news.

The development has since ignited mixed reactions on the social media platform with many users expressing their different views.

Some users on Twitter also stressed the need for people to always check on their friends.

“Tunde took his life out of depression, only God knows how long he has been trying to hold up! For a young man like him to fight and give up means he’s been holding up for a long time. We always tell men to speak up but the question is ‘when they speak up who would listen?” a user queried.

“Tunde said he needed help, he called a few folks . But the they respond? No they probably thought it was one of those normal gist. To think that he was a media personality baffles me where all his colleagues will think all is going well with him…” another user wrote.

On his Twitter bio, the influencer revealed that he lost his old account at one million followers.
