…beats Ajayi, ZLP candidate, at home
Results from 16 Local Governments have shown that Ondo State Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Rotimi Akeredolu, has maintained the lead in Saturday ’ s governorship election in the state.
The results were announced by the Local Government collation officers at the Independent National Electoral Commission’ s collation centre in Akure early Sunday morning.
Akeredolu won in 13 LGAs while the Peoples Democratic Party candidate , Eyitayo Jegede , won three .
The Deputy Governor and Zenith Labour Party candidate , Agboola Ajayi , has not won any .
Akeredolu has so far garnered 252, 880 votes.
Jegede is trailing with 179, 623 votes.
Ajayi is in a distant third with 73, 257 votes.
A breakdown of the figures shows that the APC candidate is leading his closest rival , Jegede , with 59, 171 votes.
The PUNCH reports that 17 political parties are participating in the governorship election held in 18 local governments .

ALSO Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, has won in 15 of the 18 local government areas of Ondo State with the conclusion of declaration of results from all the council areas at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC office in Akure on Sunday afternoon.
In one of the last two local governments declared, APC won in Ilaje with 26,657 votes to 11,128 votes scored by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The Governor also massively defeated Agboola Ajayi, the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party in his Ese Odo Local Government Area.
While the APC candidate scored 13, 383 votes, the ZLP candidate polled 4760 votes above the 4680 score of the PDP.
With the declaration of all the results from the 18 local governments, the stage is set for the declaration of Governor Akeredolu as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election.
