Orlu youths to Buhari: Recall military from Orlu before this macabre dance degenerates to full scale war

Ibe Pascal Arogorn, Owerri

The Orluzurumee Youths, being the apex youth body of the people of Orlu Zone in Imo State Tuesday urged president Muhammadu Buhari to immediately withdraw men of the Nigerian army in Orlu before its get of hand

This was contained in a statement by Prince Arthur U. Madumere, MNES, the group’s National President.

He said the group has been observing with dismay, the savagery of the joint military campaign in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State which have been ongoing for days on end and have claimed many lives.

According to him, “The feelers we got was that the military is avenging for the death of their comrades who were alleged to have been killed by members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed unit of the Mazi Nnamdi Kanu -led Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

“In view of the foregoing, we are calling on the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, to quickly intervene and quell this macabre dance between the Nigerian joint security operation (army and the police) on one hand and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) on another so as to halt the wanton destructions of lives and properties of the people of the area.

Speaking further, “it will not be in the best interest of the Imo State and Federal Government of Nigeria to militarize any part of Igboland in the guise of fighting pro-Biafra agitators as any such action will be counterproductive and a boomerang.

“We must reiterate our faith in the capacity of the Nigerian Police, to tackle uprisings such as this in any part of sovereignty of this nation if they were well mobilized and motivated.

“We are of the firm believe that if a sincere opportunity for a resolute dialogue is provided, most of the remote causes of this incessant misunderstanding will be abated as dialogue has proven over and over again to be a profound panacea for peace and development.

“Finally, we call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to recall these soldiers back to their barracks or better still, to our highways where their ingenuity and expertise will come to play, “Prince Arthur added.
