Seven members of a family on Wednesday died in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
It was gathered that the incident, which occurred at Umueze Umuakanu community in Umuahia North LGA, sent shivers down the spines of residents.
It was learnt the seven victims were suspected to have been poisoned from the Suya or juice bought by their father, Mr. Jessy which they ate on Tuesday night.
They were said to have died before they could be taken to the hospital.
It was however, gathered that the mother, Mrs. Ogba Jessy, and a son cheated death by the whiskers.
Our correspondent gathered that both survivors were on admission at the intensive care unit of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) for medical attention at the time of filing the report.
When contacted, Abia Police spokesman, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, told The Nation that the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue for preservation and possible autopsy.
