Woman raped, killed on farm in Ondo

 

The lifeless body of a 45-year-old woman, Kudirat Abolarinwa, has been discovered near a farm in Lekere village, Ayeyemi area of Ondo West local government area of the State.

Her corpse was found naked by the search party a few hours after the victim was declared missing by her husband, and it was suspected that she had been raped before being macheted to death.

A village source informed newsmen that the woman, known for her industrious nature and buying of farming output, had gone to the farm to buy plantains with a man.

The suspect, who had recently regained his freedom from Segede prison on the 6th of February, 2024, invited the deceased.

“We organised a search party when the deceased did not return at nightfall, prompting her husband to raise an alarm about his wife’s absence.

“The ex-convict had visited the village on Thursday to inform the woman about the plantains, and she followed him on Friday morning.

“We don’t know what happened in the farm, but Kudirat’s remains were found in the farm, macheted, and suspected to have been raped as she was naked with marks of a cutlass on her body.”

The incident was reported to the Enu-Owa Police division, and the police swung into action while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the morgue.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the incident, stating that detectives from the command had commenced an investigation into the matter.

She explained, “On 08/03/2024 around 1700hrs, one Tajudeen Bolarinwa of Ago road, Onipetesi village reported that at about 1630 hrs.

“He stated that his wife, Mrs. Kudirat Bolarinwa, aged 45 yrs, who went from one farm to the other to buy kolanuts, was murdered in the bush by an unknown person.

“At the scene of the incident, the deceased was left with only her pant, and the side of her face, lower arm, and head were severely macheted.”

She said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue in Ondo City, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the culprit.
