Barr Peter Mbah, a former Chief of Staff to former Enugu Governor Chimaraoke Nnamani, has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket.
Mbah, who also served as a Commissioner during the administration of Nnamani, defeated other aspirants to emerge winner of the primary on Wednesday.
He polled 749 votes while his closest challenger, Chijioke Edeoga scored nine votes.
Chinyeaka Ohaa got three votes with former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and Chikwado Chukwunta getting one vote apiece. One vote was voided.
The result was announced by chairman of the Electoral Panel from National Working Committee of the PDP, Senator Ambuno Zik Sunday.
Ambuno said 765 delegates from 17 local government areas of the State were accredited while two missed out of the accreditation.
Mbah will be the PDP’s standard-bearer in the governorship election in March 2023.
Before voting commenced, eleven aspirants out of 17 had stepped down for Mbah.
The committee chairman listed the aspirants who stepped down to include Gilbert Nnaji, Abraham Onyishi and Kingsley Udeh.
Others include Erasmus Anike, Nwabueze Ugwu, Raph Nwoye, Prof. Jehu Nnaji, Beloved Dan Anike and GOC Ajah
Aspirants such as Ekweremadu, who withdrew from the raxce, and Chinyeaka Ohaa were not at the primary.
