Gunmen have invaded Pinau market in Pinau community of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing 11 and injuring many villagers.
It was gathered that the armed men attacked the market on Sunday evening.
Daily Trust had, on December 8, reported how residents of some villages complained of the influx of bandits in some of the villages of Wase LGA.
The residents had also alleged that there were informants within communities working with the bandits.
Shapi’i Sambo, a youth leader in Wase, confirmed the latest attack to Daily Trust, describing it as unfortunate.
A resident told our correspondent that in the last 10 days, gunmen had abducted many people in the area and collected millions of naira as ransom.
He said, “They collect ransom in millions. Sometimes they collect N2 million and sometimes N5 millions. Last three days, they collected N5million before releasing a man whom they abducted some days back.”
Spokesman of the state police command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, did not respond to calls and SMS when our correspondent tried to reach him over the development.
