$11million fraud: Invictus Obi to be released in 2028, says U.S

Obinwanne Okeke, popularly known as Invictus Obi, will be released in September 2028, The Nation has learnt.

The Nigerian entrepreneur and a Forbes Africa 30 under-30 honoree was sentenced to a 10-year jail term in the U.S.

A statement by the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons on its website revealed that Obi is being held at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), Oakdale.

In August 2019, Obi was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at Dulles International Airport in connection with $11 million fraud.

In February 2021, he was convicted and sentenced to a 10-year jail term for his involvement in a computer-based intrusion fraud scheme.

Okeke, the founder of Invictus Group, has a degree in International Studies and Forensic Criminology and Masters of International Relations and Counter-Terrorism Studies from Monash University in Australia, according to his official profile.

He was named on the Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30 For 2016 and was featured on the magazine’s June 2016 cover.

A year later, CNBCA named Okeke as a finalist for Young Business Leader of the Year (West Africa).
