Medical students from the Benue State University have protested and occupied the government house for alleged arbitrary withdrawal of their classmates, lack of water and overcrowding up to five students in a room, instead of two.
President of the medical students, Imenger Charles, disclosed these while addressing Governor Hyacinth Alia, who sent his Chief of Staff, Mr Paul Biam, to engage the protesting medical students and find a common ground.
The governor reminded the students of his prompt approval of their long suspended bond scheme and accreditation and assured them of plans to begin the construction of additional hostel accommodation.
The Vice Chancellor of Benue State University, Prof. Joseph Iorapuu, however, said that plans have been concluded for the construction of new hostel accommodation.
The Vice Chancellor further appealed to the protesting medical students to return to their academic activities and allow for timely solutions to the complaints raised.
