Joe Biden has reacted to his victory at the US presidential poll, saying the work ahead will be hard, but promised to be president for all Americans.
Biden defeated President Donald Trump in the US presidential election, having secured 273 electoral votes to Trump’s 213, even with results in some states yet to be declared.
The US president-elect in a tweet, said he was honoured that Americans have chosen him to be their president and lead the great country.
He said whether people voted for him or not, he would be president for all, saying that he would keep the faith Americans placed on him.
America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not.
“I will keep the faith that you have placed in me,” he tweeted.
Fani-Kayode, Davido, Peter Okoye react to Joe Biden’s victory
Top Nigerian personalities which include Femi Fani-Kayode, Peter Okoye and Davido have reacted to the victory of Joe Biden over incumbent president Donald Trump.
Nigerians have shown keen interest in who takes over the affairs of the United States of America till 2024 and were active online and offline during the electioneering process.
In fact, some Nigerians hosted a prayer walk in support of President Donald Trump while others clamour for the victory of Joe Biden.
Many commentators have now taken to social media to express their opinion as Joe Biden was declared the winner of the presidential election.
Femi Fani-Kayode, one of the staunch supporters of Donald Trump in Nigeria, expressed optimism that Joe Biden’s victory will be overturned by the Supreme Court.
He said: “As expected the Int. News Networks including CNN have declared Joe Biden the winner of the election. Let us see what the Supreme Court will say. If the election is not overturned I wish Joe well. If it is overturned I wish DonaldTrump well. Let us see where it ends!.”
However, award-winning singer Peter Okoye congratulated Joe Biden.
“Best News in 2020! JOE BIDEN ELECTED 46th PRESIDENT,” Peter Okoye stated on Twitter.
“BIDEN!!! PRESIDENT- ELECT !!!! HARRIS VICE PRESIDENT- ELECT !!!,” Davido wrote on Twitter.

Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has described Joe Biden’s victory over President Donald Trump, as victory of ‘good over evil.’
Obasanjo was reacting to Biden’s victory in the US poll on Saturday, while congratulating the US president-elect and Kamala Harris for winning the poll.
The former president, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Kehinde Akinremi said he joined millions in the United States of America and in the rest of the world to rejoice with Biden and Harris.
“It is victory of good over evil and it is not victory for you and the people of America alone, but victory for most people of the world, majority of whom watch helplessly as the world that had been steadily and painstakingly built since the end of the Second World War was being pulled down.
“Not that the world was perfect and equitable but it was reasonably predictable with some measure of rule of law and respect for international agreements and treaties,” he said.
Obasanjo said Biden must restore confidence in the role of America as the largest economy in the world which has a very significant responsibility for the peace, security, stability and progress of the world.

Former US President, Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary have reacted to Joe Biden’s victory at the poll, saying Americans have spoken and democracy has won.
Biden defeated Trump to become the 46th president of the United States and will be sworn-in in January.
“America has spoken and democracy has won. Now we have a President-Elect and Vice President-Elect who will serve all of us and bring us all together.
“Congratulations to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on your momentous victory,” Bill Clinton tweeted.

This election is about so much more than Joe Biden or me,” Kamala Harris stated as she becomes the vice-president-elect of the United States of America.
Joe Biden won the presidency which makes Kamala the first woman, and a woman of color to be elected to such a position in the White House.
Joe Biden won by clinching Pennsylvania and its 20 electoral votes on Saturday morning, after days of painstaking vote counting following record turnout across the country.
The win in Pennsylvania took Biden’s electoral college vote to 284, surpassing the 270 needed to win the White House.
Shortly after the race was called Harris tweeted out a statement and video. “This election is about so much more than @JoeBiden or me,” she said. “It’s about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Let’s get started.”
Similarly, president-elect Biden released a statement calling for unity.

Obama reacts: Biden faces challenges no new president ever faced
Former U.S. President Barack Obama said President-elect Joe Biden faces extra-ordinary challenges when he takes over from Donald Trump next January.
Obama said this in his congratulatory message to Biden, his vice president and Kamala Harris, who he called friends.
He said no incoming president has ever faced the combo of challenges Biden will face.
He listed the challenges as a raging pandemic, an unequal economy and justice system, a democracy at risk, and a climate in peril.

Trump becomes 11th one-term US president
Donald Trump, who frequently compares his presidency as next to Abraham Lincoln’s, has become the 11th president to be ousted from the White House after serving only one term in office.
His loss to Democrat rival Joe Biden saw him join the dreaded single-term president’s club – and made him the first man to do so since George H W Bush lost to Bill Clinton in 1992 after just four years in office.
Most single-term presidents are Republican, with presidents at greater risk of serving only a single term if the country faces economic hardship and sharply divided public opinion – both of which have beset Trump.
George HW Bush was ousted after a single term after struggling with an economic recession and decreased focus on foreign policy.
He was also unfavourably compared to Bill Clinton, who dazzled voters with his charisma and was hugely popular with black voters.
Gerald Ford, the 38th president, faced scrutiny for his pardoning of Richard Nixon and presided over the worst economy since the Great Depression in his term, which lasted from 1974 to 1977.
Trump frequently gave pardons to his supporters and political allies, with controversial grants of clemency to people like political adviser Roger Stone and Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Another Republican who only served one-term was Herbert Hoover, who believed that government should stay out of relief efforts during the Great Depression from 1929 to 1933.
He was preceded by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, arguably one of the most influential US presidents, whose ‘New Deal’ stimulus plan brought America’s economy out of the gutter.
In comparison, Trump was weak on stimulus packages throughout most of the pandemic, leading Americans to struggle on their own as millions continue to be unemployed throughout the country.
And there was William Taft, a Republican president from 1909 to 1913. Theodore Roosevelt, who had already served as president and was beloved by the American people, ran against Taft as a third-party candidate to siphon votes away so that Woodrow Wilson could come away with the victory.
The only 20th century Democrat to serve one term was Jimmy Carter, from 1977 to 1981, whose anti-war policy led to American servicemen dying in a botched attempted to save hostages in Iran.
Ronald Reagan defeated Carter in a landslide victory, which brought in a new era of Republican politics that included a massive ‘war on drugs’ policy, resulting in mass incarcerations of people of colour.
