Patrick Aghamba, the Anambra commissioner for youth development, and his wife have been freed from captivity.
The couple was abducted on Friday while travelling for the wedding of the daughter of Charles Soludo, governor of Anambra.
The wedding was scheduled for Saturday in Abuja.
Kpajie Offia, an aide to the commissioner who was travelling with the couple, was said to have been killed during the attack.
Christian Aburime, chief press secretary to Soludo, told TheCable on Sunday that the commissioner and his wife were released on Saturday night.
“Within 24 hours, we were able to get them out of the hands of kidnappers,” Aburime said.
The incident reflects the spate of abductions during road travel in parts of the country.
On Friday, gunmen abducted 20 medical and dental students of the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos.
The students were en route to the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students in Enugu state.
The students were ambushed by gunmen around the Otukpo area of Benue state.
