The chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Chief Basil Ejidike, has condemned in a very strong term the brutal and despicable murder of the alleged deposed traditional ruler of Mkpunando community in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State,Igwe Alexander Edozieuno
Igwe Edozieuno was killed at Ezu bridge, Otuocha with his driver identified as Chukwuemeka,by unknown gunmen and his Prado jeep dumped by nearby bush.
No details have been heard about the likely cause of the murder which has attracted wide condemnation within and outside the State .
The gory picture of the traditional ruler who was allegedly deposed by Governor Willie Obiano for visiting Chief Arthur Eze went viral shortly after he was killed some days ago.
But Chief Ejidike who spoke through his Chief Media officer, High Chief Dan Okeke, asked the security operatives in the State to unmask the killers of the traditional ruler.
He said the open day murder of the traditional ruler was clear indication that security in the State has broken down inspite of billions of naira the Governor has been collecting monthly under the guise of security votes.
He said despite the huge security votes, the Governor has failed to provide necessary security to protect the lives and properties of the citizens of the State.
The chairman said the Governor has refused to empower the neighborhood watch (Anambra Vigilante Group. AVG)who provide security at the local and community level in the State as well as incentives for the Police and other security operatives to perform optimally.
He said it was unfortunate that Governor Obiano has not employed or empowered the youths in the state since eight years he has been the Governor, unlike Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State who empowered the youths of the State with a whopping sum of N4b and distributed N250, 000 to each of the youth start business.
” But there is nothing like that in Anambra State. That is why there is serious insecurity in Anambra State.
The Governor should tell the people of Anambra State what he has done with the security votes he has been collecting ?”said Ejidike.
He called for immediate security summit in the State to stem the rising cases of assassination and violent crimes.
QEjidike said APC Government under Dr. Andy Uba would address the issue of insecurity and other crimes with jobs creation for the youths of the State, stressing that he will use his wide contact to open up avenues for businessmen to come and invest in the State and provide employment for the young ones.
He lamented that some of the businesses in the State have been shut down, while some traders have abandoned coming to Anambra to purchase their goods because of high taxation, intimidation, harassment and extortion by hoodlums in the name of revenue agents.
