The court of appeal in Abuja has nullified the election of Yusuf Liman, speaker of the Kaduna state house of assembly.
The three-member panel ordered a rerun in five polling units of the state.
In September, the Kaduna state assembly election petition tribunal sacked Liman and ordered a rerun in 42 polling units.
The petition was filed by Solomon Katuka, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Makera constituency.
Displeased with the ruling of the tribunal, Liman, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a joint suit with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), approached the appeal court.
According to Channels Television, the appeal court, on Friday, dismissed his suit and ordered a rerun in five polling units instead of 42.
The court ruled that the 382 margin of victory between Liman and Katuka was less than the number of permanent voter cards collected in the affected polling units.
The affected polling units are Barnawa ward PU 005 and 009, Kakuri Gwari PU 006, Television Ward PU 022, and Kakuri Hausa Ward PU 045.
