Atiku’s aide: Tinubu wants to stop FBI from releasing his files

Post Date : October 20, 2023

Phrank Shaibu, an aide to Atiku Abubakar, says President Bola Tinubu is seeking to stop the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from releasing files related to him.

In a statement on Thursday, Shaibu said Tinubu’s lawyers in the US have filed motions to appear in an ongoing freedom of information lawsuit brought before the FBI and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to release documents which would reveal the president’s “real identity”.

Shaibu said Christopher Carmichael, one of the lawyers who represented Tinubu in the recent Chicago State University (CSU) records case, filed the motion dated October 18.

‘TINUBU’S MOTION SHOULD BE REJECTED’

haibu said Tinubu’s attempts to hide details were unbecoming and showed he was concealing something.

“I think it is time for all Nigerians to express serious concern about this man named Bola A. Tinubu, if at all that is his real name,” he said.

“He refused to come clean on the details of his settlement with American authorities amid his drug trafficking probe.

Now, an attempt is being made to reveal the true details of the criminal investigation, but he has gone ahead to try and block it.”

Shaibu asked the US authorities to deny Tinubu’s request and release all files relating to the president.

Tinubu had attempted to stop CSU from releasing his academic records but his request was denied by the court.
