The Katsina State government yesterday confirmed that 60 people have been killed by the cholera outbreak in the state.
Health Commissioner, Yakubu Danja, told officials of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) at a meeting in Katsina that over 1,400 people have been affected by the disease so far.
But he said the challenge was being addressed .
Drugs,he said, were being purchased for distribution to hospitals for treatment of cases while health education on prevention and management of the disease has commenced in addition to active case search and surveillance across the state.
He advised the general public to adhere to proper hygiene.
“Diarrhea and vomiting is a preventable disease. Adhering to basic protocols on personal hygiene and use of clean water is the surest preventive measure,” he said.
