A former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani, has cautioned proponents of restructuring against using it to create tension and divide Nigeria .

He noted that changes in geo-physical scope without ethical reconstruction of the nation ’ s values as well as institutional remodeling would be a recipe for another round of agitations .

Usani, who is currently the President -General of Eastern Nigeria Peoples Assembly , said , “ As a nation of sovereign identity, our quests must be guided by our aspirations . The expected results should reflect our modes of demand . By this privilege, ENPA is committed to continuous system overhaul for a country that can stand out in the global dynamic space.

“ The subject of restructuring , which is canvassed as Nigeria ’ s ultimate panacea should not be used to infuse further tension in our geo- politics. In the complex advance of tiers of government , it is not also a proposition of a system of political nomenclature , albeit , possibly inclusive .

“ Changes in geo- physical scope without ethical reconstruction of our values and institutional remodeling will only be begging for another round of agitation for further restructuring.

“ Return to regionalism may be a viable option for homogenous identities of ethnographic nationalities, but not a sure choice for others . Any opinion held on the foundation of emotion, partisan inclination or anger is likely to be defective.

“ While Nigerians agitate for restructuring, by whatever colouration, a holistic ( national) and sub- national ( States and Local Governments) are vital components to consider along other operations vis- à-vis the need to improve our household economies . ”
