The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi state has suspended Ali Odefa, the national vice-chair in the south-east, over alleged anti-party activities.

Odefa was suspended by the PDP executive committee in Oguduokwor ward, Onicha LGA of Ebonyi state.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Friday, Herbert Onyedikachi, PDP acting chair in Oguduokwor ward, said Odefa’s suspension takes immediate effect.

Onyedikachi, who was flanked by the exco members, alleged that Odefa was involved in activities detrimental to the party’s interests.

He said Odefa has been referred to the ward’s disciplinary committee for further action.

“The suspension and disciplinary referral are intended to maintain party discipline and uphold the values and principles of the PDP,” he said.

“The ward executive committee urge party members to remain committed to the PDP’s objectives and goals.”

The suspension comes amid the crisis rocking the opposition party.

In August, the national working committee (NWC) of the PDP inaugurated a national reconciliation committee to resolve the internal wrangling among members.

The PDP also constituted a disciplinary committee to address the misconduct and indiscipline in the party and ensure accountability.
