The attention of Imo State Elders Forum(I.E.F) has been drawn to an illegal arrest and detention of unarmed innocent murners (Irete Youths) near Renno Fuel Station, a student of Imo state University Comrade Bella Peace we’re among those currently detained at ACID Owerri on false allegation of being a member of IPOB.
She was arrested alongside 60 others and has been languishing in Police Cell.
We learnt that Imo state security outfit known as ebubeagu at a funeral procession today in Irete Town abducted the said youths during their normal processional rites as part of mourning their departed relative.
IEF demand for their immediate and unconditional release without further delay.
We shall not tolerate incessant and illegal arrest of unarmed youths in Imo, enough is enough.
We further call on the Gov Hope Uzodimma, the Commissioner of police, DSS Director among other security chiefs to intervene with hope ordering their immediate release.
