Enugu Ex-Commissioner For Lands Remanded In Prison For Alleged Fraud

A federal high court sitting in Enugu, on Friday remanded a former Enugu State Commissioner for lands, Victor Nnam in prison custody over alleged land scam committed as commissioner in the state.

Surveyor Nnam was arraigned before Honorable Justice I. N. Buba of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Enugu by the state government.

Some of the charges against Nnam includes land racketeering and fraud at the popular Centenary estate Enugu as well as obtaining the land of Obeagu/Amechi Awkunanaw people through false pretence and with intent to defraud

The presiding judge who gave him an option of N200m fine and a landed property at the Zoo estate in Enugu for his bail condition later remanded him at the Enugu prisons pending when he would meet with the bail condition.

It would be recalled that the former commissioner resigned from his position after the operatives of the EFCC launched investigations into his activities at the ministry following multiple petitions it received from the ministry officials.
