Operatives of Hisbah Board in Dala Local Government of Kano state have accused their commander, Suyudi Muhammad Hassan of diverting COVID-19 palliatives meant for distribution to staff.
The items allegedly diverted were donated by Dala Local Government to be shared to the personnel of the command to help them cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a petition sent to the state’s commander of the Board, Ustaz Muhammad Ibn Sina, the personnel, numbering 73 asked Hisbah to investigate the issue.
The petition said the diverted goods include 50 bags of rice, 50 cartons of spaghetti and 50 cartons of instant noodles.
According to them, the commander allegedly diverted the foodstuff without sharing anything to them as directed by the Local Government.
However, effort to hear from the accused commander proved abortive as he neither answered calls nor replied the text message sent to him as at the time of filing this report.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the state’s Hisbah Board, Lawan Fagge said he cannot comment on the issue as it is currently under investigation.
He added that the board has already invited the commander to defend himself on the issue.
