FAKE NEWS: Ganduje, Uzodimma not contesting for President, Vice in 2027

The Imo State government has dismissed as fake ,malicious, and unfounded posters of the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma purporting him to be running for the office of Vice president in 2027.

The poster bearing pictures of Ganduje adorned in blue Babariga as the APC presidential candidate and Uzodinma in white attire and a red cap as his running mate is captioned, “The Winning Team 2027. Vote APC 2027. For Nigerians, prosperity and human development

Describing the circulation of the posters in social media alongside the APC national chairman, Alhaji Abdulahi Umar Ganduje, as the handiwork of mischief makers, the government declared that there was no truth whatsoever in the speculation.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba, the government disclosed that at no time had the governor contemplated running for such an office.

According to Emelumba, everyone in Nigeria is quite aware that Uzodimma is one of the fiercest supporters of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and has canvassed national support for him to succeed in his assignment.

” It is both laughable and preposterous. Apart from the governor being engrossed in discharging his second term mandate, he has also been supporting Mr President, so where does this malicious misinformation spring from?”, he asked.

He accused opponents of the current federal administration of engaging in the propagation of fake news so as to sow a seed of discord between Tinubu and his core loyalists.

According to him, with the failure of the recent violent protest aimed at bringing down the government, the opposition has devised another means of dividing the ruling party.

He counselled such people to desist from their nefarious activities of undermining both the federal and Imo State governments.

Said he, ” for the avoidance of doubt, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma has no Vice presidential ambition, either now or in 2027. Any information to the contrary is fake, malicious and spurious and should therefore be ignored “.

I have no presidential ambition – Ganduje

The National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has distanced himself from a poster circulating on social media that claims he will contest for the presidency in the 2027 election with Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as his running mate.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Edwin Olofu, in Abuja, on Sunday, Ganduje dismissed the poster suggesting he plans to run for president in 2027 under the party’s platform.

The former Governor of Kano State labelled the poster as entirely false and a malicious piece of fake news, saying that the intention of creating the poster was to sow discord between him and President Bola Tinubu.

Ganduje, who reaffirmed his loyalty to the president, stated that Tinubu is steering the country on the right path toward greatness and urged the public to disregard the fabricated story.

The statement reads, “This is to inform the general public that the poster currently circulating on social media, claiming that the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, is contesting for the presidency in 2027 with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as his running mate, is entirely false and a malicious piece of fake news.

“The All Progressives Congress wishes to categorically state that this is the work of mischief-makers, likely in collaboration with certain elements within the Kwankwassiyya movement, who are determined to create disaffection between Dr. Ganduje and His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje remains unwaveringly loyal to President Tinubu and is fully committed to supporting the President’s vision and leadership. Dr. Ganduje believes that President Tinubu is on the right trajectory to steer Nigeria towards greater prosperity and unity.”
