Tension greeted residents in Nnewi on Friday as fire broke out while offloading diesel from a tanker in Nnewi Filling station.
crimefacts.news gathered that the fire outbreak happened at Great V-Max Oil and Gas filling station along Nnobi road, Otolo Nnewi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State.
The fire allegedly emanated from the tanker laden with AGO(gas) inside the filling station while offloading it’s content.As a result,the truck was gutted by fire which razed down the filling station,one motorcycle and one nearby shop.
Police operatives led by DPO Otolo Nnewi Division CSP Hassan Lawal and other Sister Security Agencies quickly mobilised to the scene and cordoned off the Area to prevent looting and further catastrophe.Fire Service was equally contacted and they responded promptly. Meanwhile,no loss of life and no injury have been reported.
Consequently,the fire was put off and investigation is ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang appeal to filling station owners to always apply safety precaution while offloading fuel in order to avert similar ugly incidents which could also lead to loss of lives and injuries especially during this harmattan period.
