Atleast 10 members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, have been abducted by suspected Gunmen in Anambra State.
The herders were said to be abducted alongside about 300 Cattles.
The gunmen are said to be demanding N4m ransom and a gun from families of the victims.
Confirming the incident, the Southeast Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Gidado Siddiki said it happened at Obene Community in Ogbaru local government area settlement of the herders around 1.30am on Saturday.
He said the gunmen numbering over 40 attacked the herders at their settlement while asleep and their animals forcefully taken away by the gunmen.
“As I speak to you now, I have reported the incident to the Police and DSS for prompt action,” he informed.
He also appealed to the kidnappers to release his members and cows, stressing that the abductees were mere strugglers.
Also Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the Anambra State Police command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu said, “Yes, we are aware of the incident, but we want the Miyetti Allah leadership to supply us with more information, since the Kidnappers have established ransom contact with the victims families.”
