A group of women under the aegis of Akokwa Women For Progress Initiative (AWPI) has told governor Hope Uzodimma that he is not welcomed anywhere in Akokwa clan throughout this festive season, unless he stops the unwarranted and incessant harassment of one of their beloved sons, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Lady Susan Ucheoma who is the President of the group said that they cannot host a man who is “apparently desperate to kill one of our most illustrious sons.”
“For no justifiable reason, Governor Uzodimma has sworn to extinguish one of the brightest lights of our clan and we cannot fold our hands and watch that happen. We cannot host a man who has made himself an enemy of our people. Anyone who wishes to terminate the life of one of us or to as much as restrict his freedom cannot be our friend and such a person is not welcomed to Akokwa.”
She warned that any family or group of people planning to host the governor during this yuletide season anywhere in Akokwa will have the women of Akokwa to contend with.
“We know that there are some sycophants of the governor who would want to seize this opportunity to demonstrate their loyalty to the governor by inviting the governor to one event or the other in Akokwa, but we warn such individuals to be ready to contend with the wrath of the entire women of Akokwa. We shall not look the other way while our son is being harassed for merely holding a legitimate ambition to represent the people of Ideato in the House of Representatives. And we will not take it lightly with anyone who welcomes our oppressor.”
ALSO, Imo gvernor, Hope Uzodimma has also been warned by the Ideato youths forum over Friday’s attack on Ikenga which was allegedly led by his aide, Chinasa Nwaneri.
This was contained in a statement by Comrade Chima Uzondu, the spokesperson for the forum on Saturday.
It reads, “We, the apex youth group of Ideato nation wishes to call the attention of the world to attempts by the governor of Imo State, Chief Hope Uzodimma to assassinate one of our illustrious sons, after attempts to frame him up for murder and other unimaginable offences, failed.
“Recent events especially as they concern the unwarranted harassment of Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the PDP candidate for Ideato federal constituency has exposed the governor as being the one who invests time and State resources in odious efforts to destabilize the State while turning around to blame his purported political opponents for being behind the unprecedented spate of insecurity in the State.
“The Imo State Commissioner of Police should as a matter of urgency arrest the numerous unknown gunmen who are being used by one Mr. Chinasa Nwaneri to harass, intimidate and even assassinate those seen as presenting threats to the governor’s unwholesome ambition to pocket the State.
“We are aware that Governor Uzodimma has given an order for his Chief Thug, Mr. Chinasa Nwaneri to assassinate Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, and we warn that should a single hair fall off the skin of Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, we the youths of Ideato shall hold Governor Hope Uzodimma accountable. And we shall make sure that we revenge, a hundred times and more, whatever happens to our illustrious son.
