A fire outbreak has destroyed a branch of First Bank PLC located at Ahiara junction in Mbaise, Imo state.
A source told correspondent that the fire which emanated from a petroleum refilling station nearby destroyed assets worth millions of Naira at the bank.
It was learnt that the bank’s structure, assets and money were lost in the inferno.
A source who confided in our correspondent said that the inferno which started on Tuesday afternoon caused in the area.
The source said ” the inferno started from a nearby fuel station and spread to the First bank building and destroyed it. Assets worth millions of Naira were lost.”
When contacted, the spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye,confirmed the incident.
He said that it took fire fighters from Owerri and community efforts to quench the inferno.
Okoye added that investigation into the remote cause of the outbreak was on going.
