Ijaw National Congress, INC, has called for the recall of all lawmakers from Ijaw ethnic group that signed the purported impeachment letter of Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Appearing on Arise TV, Professor Benjamin Okaba, the president of INC said the constituents of the lawmakers shall commence their recall process for betraying one of their own; governor Fubara.
“For those Ijaw House of Assembly Members that decided to sign the purported letters, the Ijaw National Council is directing the clan chairmen in ijaw area to commence the recall process of these lawmakers.
“All those who signed that thing (sic) should be recalled because that’s anti ijaw interest. They’re in the House of Assembly to protect Ijaw people and not to sign any impeachment notice because that was not the mandate given to them.”
Prof. Okaba maintained that the Governor is fighting for survival as the FCT minister wants to continue dictating what happens in Rivers state. He added that even commissioners disrespect the Fubara.
Speaking further, the leader of the Ijaw nation said “the only crime Siminalaye committed was that he decided to ask questions about his authority to do certain things as the governor of the state.”
“This man as a governor, has not travelled out of the state. This man as a governor is being challenged by his own commissioners. This man as a governor is just there as stooge and he says, please this can’t happen for the growth of our state that voted him in.”
“The intention was to have him as a stooge but he forgot the fact that every human-being no matter how weak he looks, has a personality that must manifest one day. He never expected that Fubara, his boi boi (sic) can rise up one day and say this project isn’t in the interest of the state and you must stop it.”
Reacting to the intervention of the President and others calling for peace, Prof. Okaba said they should call for justice “and justice is to allow the governor to perform his responsibility.”
“The president intervention should be about resolving those issue about Mr. Wike and should be advised to take his hands and legs off. It is only when that is done that you can have peace.”
He said that the only way for peace to reign is for Fubara to be allowed to be Governor and called for all Ijaw people home and abroad to support the Governor who’s fighting for justice
