Jay Z accused of raping minor with Diddy in 2000

Jay Z, the billionaire rapper, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in the ongoing suit against Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs.

A federal lawsuit, which originally mentioned only Combs, was refiled on Sunday in New York to add Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter.

The updated civil complaint alleged that Jay-Z and Diddy raped the girl at an afterparty following the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000.

According to the suit, she was allegedly offered a drink that made her feel “woozy, lightheaded and felt she needed to lie down”.

It alleged that both rappers entered the room, with Diddy telling her: “You are ready to party!”

“Another celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns assaulting the minor. Many others were present at the after party, but did nothing to stop the assault,” the suit reads in part.

“Carter has been with Combs during many such instances described herein. Both perpetrators must face justice.”

In another lawsuit, Carter, 55, was accused of harassing the plaintiff while trying to excuse himself from the case.

“Prior to the filing of this amended complaint, Carter received a letter from plaintiff’s counsel requesting a mediation to resolve this matter,” it reads.

“Upon present information and belief, Jay-Z responded to said letter by not only filing an utterly frivolous lawsuit but by also orchestrating a conspiracy of harassment, bullying and intimidation against Plaintiff’s lawyers, their families, employees and former associates in an attempt to silence Plaintiff from naming Jay-Z herein.

“This effort was meant to scare Plaintiff and to discredit her counsel. That effort failed. Indeed, Plaintiff chose to file this amendment as a result of the egregious conduct perpetuated by Carter.”

JAY-Z DENIES ALLEGATION

Reacting to the allegation via an X post, Jay Z, who is married to superstar Beyonce, described it as a “heinous attempt to blackmail me”.

In a letter published under his label Roc Nation, the music mogul also criticised the lawyer Tony Buzbee who filed the suit.

“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a “lawyer” named Tony Buzbee. What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle,” the letter reads in part.

“No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!

“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?

“These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case. This lawyer, who I have done a bit of research on, seems to have a pattern of these type of theatrics!

“I have no idea how you have come to be such a deplorable human Mr. Buzbee, but I promise you I have seen your kind many times over. I’m more than prepared to deal with your type. You claim to be a marine?! Marines are known for their valor, you have neither honor nor dignity.

“My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence.”

BACKGROUND

Diddy was arrested on September 16 over sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

The US magistrate judge Robyn Tarnofsky ordered that the entertainer be jailed while awaiting trial.

Tarnofsky’s order followed after the Bad Boy Records founder pleaded not guilty to the 14-page federal indictment against him.

The 55-year-old was also accused of sexually abusing 120 more people, including a 9-year-old boy.

The rapper faces life in prison if convicted on the racketeering charge. He faces another statutory minimum of 15 years for the sex trafficking charge.

His sex trafficking trial is set to begin on May 5, 2025.
