Magistrates Block Ayade’s Office Over 2-Yr Unpaid Salaries

Post Date : January 5, 2021

Thirty magistrates in Cross River State on Monday blocked Governor Ben Ayade’s office in Calabar over non-payment of their two-year salaries.

The magistrates, armed with placards with various inscriptions, chanted solidarity songs while they blocked the second gate of the premises

Speaking to newsmen in Calabar, the state’s Chief Magistrate, Solomon Abuo, said the protest was their last resort after several pleas and correspondences to the state government yielded no desired result.

They threatened to boycott courts if the government failed to meet their demand.

Nobody from the governor’s office agreed to address the magistrates, claiming that both Governor Ayade and his deputy, Professor Ivara Esu, were not available in the office
