The national leadership of Ohanaze Youths Wing has urged the federal government to unconditionally release all Igbo detainees in various detention facilities in the country to guarantee sustained peace in the South Eastern region.
The pan-Ndigbo youth group, which also reinstated the suspended national youth leader of the group, Engr Damian Okafor, urged him to used his office to enlighten the youths of the region about the dangers of drugs abuse.

The National Publicity Secretary of Ohaneze Youth, Chika Art Adiele, who conveyed the decision at the emergency national executive council meeting in a statement on Saturday, said the decision to recall the youth leader was due to intervention from prominent Igbo leaders to ensure peace in the region.
He said: “We boldly restate the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and all Igbo detainees languishing in different cells across the country with immediate effect.
“That the unfortunate decision to suspend our National Youth Leader, Engr Damian Okafor, is hereby cancelled and he is fully reinstated with all the rights and privileges of the office of the National Youth Leader.
“He should constitute a committee within 7 days on drugs and substance abuse by our fellow youths and also proffer a realistic template for the rehabilitations and reintegration of victims and escalate the advocacy on the dangers of drugs, especially the commonly used one otherwise known as (Mkpulummili) Meth.
“As a civilized people, we frown at the inhuman and extrajudicial method of caning victims in public space, hereby violating their fundamental human rights, as we believe that such punishment is archaic and anachronistic,” he said.
