Ondo court sentences welder to death for killing wife

An Ondo State High Court has sentenced one Daniyan Ojo to death for killing his wife Dorcas Daniyan by setting the deceased ablaze.

The 50-year-old convict, who is a welder, was found guilty of committing the offence as he set their house ablaze and locked the wife inside a room in the house while she was sleeping.

He was said to have committed the offence on September 14, 2019, at lrese Road in Shagari Village, Akure, the state capital.

After committing the offence, he was arrested by the men of the state police command and later arraigned before the court.

The matter was argued in the court by both prosecuting and defence counsels for three years before the court finally gave its judgment.

While delivering the judgement, Justice Adegboyega Adebusoye, held that the prosecution had proved the case against Ojo beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced him to death by hanging.
