A shoemaker, Omale Ojima aka Ojbest, who once made shoes for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been found dead in his room in Kubwa, Abuja.

The discovery on Sunday morning in the Pipeline area of Kubwa, in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), left many residents in shock.

A resident, Adeleye Gbenga, told City & Crime that the deceased died in his sleep, adding that his lifeless body was found at 6am.

Gbenga said: “I got the news around 6am on Sunday morning that he slept and did not wake up. His body has been taken to the Kubwa General Hospital mortuary.”

City & Crime reports that Ojbest went viral after tweeting #Osinbajo about his products and making shoes for him.

“I really cannot contain my joy in expressing this. This is a dream I never thought would happen. Words have failed me and I may not use the appropriate words, but I really want to thank his Excellency, @ProfOsinbajo for his patronage and support for Ojbest footwear,” he had tweeted.

His death was announced on Gbenga’s Twitter handle on Sunday evening. “PAINFUL EXIT!! Call to Glory, the CEO of OJBest footwear is dead,” the tweet read.

Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday mourned the death of the shoemaker, describing him as his young enterprising shoemaker and friend.

In a personally signed statement, Vice President Osinbajo, said he was deeply saddened by the news of the sudden death of Mr. Ojima Omale, aka OJBEST.

‘’I and many members of my team, for whom he also made shoes, will miss him, his services and unfailing good humour.

‘’Our thoughts are with his family as we pray that God will comfort them. May his memory remain blessed,’’ the Vice President prayed.
