PDP campaign: Failed Chatham House outing made APC unleash mayhem on THISDAY/Arise

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council says the “failed outing” of Bola Tinubu, standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at Chatham House prompted his party to “unleash democratic mayhem” on Arise TV/THISDAY.

The editors of the media organisations had accused Bayo Onanuga and Dele Alake of the APC presidential campaign council of bullying the press.

The APC campaign council replied by saying the allegation was baseless.

Tinubu was in Chatham House recently to speak on his plans for Nigeria if elected president. Following his appearance, he came under criticism for assigning questions he was asked to members of his delegation.

In a series of tweets, Daniel Bwala, a spokesperson of the PDP presidential campaign council, described Tinubu’s Chatham House outing as “comedy skits”.

“Frustrated by utter failure in their Chatham house comedy skits, and possible denial of entry to the United States, they decided to unleash democratic mayhem on anyone at sight,” Bwala said.

“Their first casualty is Arise TV and Thisday. A stitch in time saves nine.

“Democracy and free press is under attack by those who claimed they fought for them. If they can dare that when they need your votes, imagine how your life would come under their brutal rule if they come to power.

“At first their spokespersons thought they could bully the press, each time they appeared and were fact-checked they would blackmail the press. As their spokespersons were chased out of the space with facts, they decided to send unknown false men. These too are being checked.”
