Livid party leaders yesterday called for immediate sanctions against the National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu for allegedly compromising the 3-man delegate Congress of the party in Imo state.

The 3-man adhoc delegate Congress in Imo yesterday hit the rocks following failed attempts by members of the Panel and alleged loyalists of the National Secretary to abscond with the result sheets for the 27 Council areas in Imo.

A front line aspirant for the Ideato North/ South Federal constituency, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has called for the immediate removal of the National Secretary of the Party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu for his alleged complicit in the stealing of the results of the delegate Congress.

He also noted that earlier expulsion of Senator Anyanwu from the PDP by his ward still subsists and that any nomination form signed by him will jeopardize the chances of the party in the coming 2023 elections.

Speaking to newsmen at the Party’s secretariat on Sunday, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere who spoke on behalf of other aspirants, said that the local government ward congresses results were stolen and that it all started in Abuja and that it had the imprints of the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

“We are here today because the result of the congress conducted on Saturday was stolen. In fact, they had wanted to steal all the results of the 27 local governments but when they were caught, results for 25 local governments were recovered while that of Ideato North and Ideato South are still missing and we will not allow such a brazen robbery to stand.

He added, that senator Anyanwu wants to destroyed the party they have laboured to build because of his personal ambition but we will not allow him.”

Ikenga further stated that the actions of the National secretary is to sabotage the efforts of the party in the state and to create confusion and crisis in the party .

He insisted that Senator Anyanwu whose expulsion from the party has not be lifted should be asked to step aside as a member of the National working committee as any nomination form signed by him will jeopardize the chances of the party as rival parties may challenge its legitimacy in court.

“I am calling on the National Executive Committee of the party to immediately ask Senator Anyanwu to step aside and the the Assistant National Secretary to act because he is not a member of the party after being expelled from his ward and local government which was ratified by the state. As such, any nomination form signed by him may be challenged by our rivals in the court and will jeopardize the chances of the party in the coming 2023 polls”.

Reacting, Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s media aide, Ikenna Onuoha denied the allegations, saying that there was a plot to blackmail the National Secretary.

He was silent on whether Senator Anyanwu’s expulsion from the party was still subsisting.
