Adamu Bulkachuwa, the Senator representing Bauchi North Senatorial zone in the red chamber, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bulkachuwa who’s the Chairman Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, made his defection official on Wednesday.

Confirming the development, the Senator said he’s now a member of the main opposition, while displaying his membership card.

The 82-year-old pledged to “overwhelmingly support” Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP for the 2023 election.

Meanwhile, four of the aggrieved G-5 governors of the PDP have met with Governor Bala Mohammed in Bauchi, the state capital.

The governors comprise Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Samuel Ortom (Benue); and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).

The G-5 has been in dispute with the leadership of the party, demanding the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, as a precondition to support Atiku in the 2023 presidential election.
