The Imo State state government has said it was wrong for Myke Ikoku to accuse governo Hope Uzodimmar of politically witch hunting him.
Recall that on Monday, Boss Fm radio Owerri, All Seasons Hotel, Owerri, Mini restaurant and bar and Havana Cinema, Owerri, were sealed by the state government despite a court order stoping it from doing so.
Officials of Internally Generated Revenue secretariat with the aid of armed security men had on Monday invaded the business outfits and sealed them after shooting in the air.
The development had generated public outburst even as the management of the businesses had accused the state government of political vendetta.
The business owner, Myke Ikoku, who is a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party said that several of his staff were taken away by the visitors.
Reacting, the spokesperson for the governor of the state, Oguwike Nwachuku, said it was wrong for Ikoku, to had accused the governor of politically witch hunting him.
He said “I know that the owner of the hotel in question cannot reasonably accuse Governor Hope Uzodimma of political vendetta, knowing full well the Governor is not noted for such.
“However, since he said the government is involved and is aware that government has different organs that work in synergy for the same goal, I would suggest he liaises with the particular office responsible for what he was complaining about and sort it out at that level. And I want to believe the office involved has the capacity to take responsibility for its action in public interest.”
