There was confusion at a hotel in Onitsha, Anambra State after a sex worker who was identified only as Chisom was found dead in one of the rooms.
The victim was found dead while the cleaners were cleaning the rooms on Monday.
The death of the sex worker raised suspicion as opinions differed if she was strangled or she committed suicide.
The development made other sex workers operate in the hotel to flee.
The Divisional Police Officer, Central Police Station, Onitsha, Ifeanyi Ibru, said investigations had commenced into the matter.
“The police are aware and we are investigating the case; the corpse has been taken away,” Ibru added.
The development made residents to besiege the hotel.
An ambulance later arrived and evacuated the corpse.
