Terrorists kill 11 in Plateau attack

No fewer than 11 persons were killed, at the weekend, in Pukah community of Mangu Local Council of Plateau State.

Eight were massacred on Friday by unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia. The locals described the incessant assaults on the people as unbecoming.

Three other bodies were reportedly discovered by the natives, yesterday, as they bury the previous ones.

A villager, who escaped to Jos, yesterday for safety, Johnson Musa, said he witnessed the gunmen came in their numbers and killed people without any provocation.

The residents were suspecting Fulani herdsmen, whose relationship with the natives, has not been cordial recently.

The attackers injured other people, rustled 120 sheep and stole one Bajaj motorcycle.

Coordinator of Human Rights Watch and Rescue Operations in Plateau, Jerry Datim, who spoke to The Guardian, accused the Fulani for the attack.

He praised the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army in Jos, Maj-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, who has been able to reduce crimes in the state to some extent.

Datim advised those who are not happy about the unwarranted killings to stand up and speak out.

The Military Media Information Officer of the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Capt Oya James, could not be reached for comments.
