Bola Tinubu, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says politics was not on the agenda during his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The president hosted the former governor of Lagos at the presidential villa on Sunday.
The duo met at the president’s official residence before proceeding to a closed door meeting.
Tinubu said the purpose of his visit was to welcome the president back from his trip to Saudi Arabia where he went for lesser hajj.
The former Lagos governor said he also thanked Buhari for visiting him in London after his medical procedure.
“Only to thank the president, first of all, for his visit to my residence in London after the surgery and wishing me well, lifting my spirit and indeed what an exceptional leader will do to collaborate. So that’s what I came for and to welcome him back from the trip from Saudi,” Tinubu said after the meeting.
“No politics, just a courtesy call to thank him in a big way, that’s all.”
The APC chieftain returned to Nigeria on October 9 — three weeks ago after undergoing knee surgery in London, United Kingdom.
While in the UK, President Buhari had paid a visit to Tinubu.
Although Tinubu is yet to officially declare his ambition for the 2023 presidential election, several campaign initiatives have been launched in his name.
