Sixteen days after the alleged flogging to death of 19-month-old pupil, Obinna Adeze, the Delta State Police Command has released an autopsy report on the boy.

Obinna was allegedly flogged 31 times by his teacher, who is a son of the proprietress of the school, Arise and Shine in Asaba.

The toddler was allegedly flogged for playing with water and getting himself wet.

The autopsy report said Obinna died of “septic shock” and not of injury from the corporal punishment.

Police Commissioner, Mohammed Ari, told reporters in Asaba yesterday that investigation had been concluded and the matter charged to court

Obinna’s mother, Gift Ohanezeze, 28, challenged the autopsy report and called for justice for her son.

Police spokesman Bright Edafe said the school proprietress was in protective custody.
