The University Of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) has distanced itself from the ongoing National Executive Council meeting organized by a factional group of the association.

In a letter obtained by Crimefacts.news, the meeting is scheduled to hold from Thursday, 15 Sept to Sunday, 18 Sept 2022 in Abuja.

In the letter signed by Tony Chukwu, UNAA National Secretary, the association accused the University Of Nigeria Nsukka(UNN) authorities of imposing an illegal leadership on the association despite the pendency of the matter in court.

The letter reads, “The public is hereby informed that a National Executive Council Sunday, 18th September, 2022 by a group parading itself as the University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA) led by its
(NEC) Meeting proposed to hold in Abuja from Thursday, 15th to University of Nigeria Alumni Association is not being organized by National President, HRH, Queen Dr. Mrs. Linda Agua-Onyekwelu.

“It is rather one further antics by a dissident few who for their selfish purposes and with the connivance of the University authorities by means of the divide and rule tactics have set out to destroy the University of Nigeria Alumni movement.

“The issue of illegal imposition of leadership on the Association by the
Federal High Court Enugu in suit no: FHC/EN/CS/62/2022 between the University authorities is the subject matter of a pending suit before the University of Nigeria Alumni Association & Ors vs the University* of Nigeria & Ors.

“The proposed NEC meeting is an act of contempt of court even as directive of the court and proceeded to conduct the illegal election –the suit is pending when the University authorities flouted the subject*matter of the suit.

“The public is hereby advised to steer clear of the purported NEC meeting in order not to be embroiled in issues of contempt of court.

“The purpose of the NEC meeting is only to defraud our eminent alumni members who may out of patriotism and lack of information donate huge sums of money which will end up in the private pockets of the organizers.

“The invitees and awardees should please take note.”
