The coalition of opposition political parties, CUPP, has intercepted a plan by the ruling party to carry out digital vote buying following their inability to continue the usual cash vote as a result of the new naira design policy.

According to Ugochinyere Ikenga, the spokesperson for the group said the new plot of digital vote buying, termed operation Wire-Wire by the CUPP, will see to the APC harvesting names, account numbers, and Voters Identification Numbers, Bank Verification Numbers of citizens, arranged in tables for each polling unit on the understanding that money will be sent to each person by electronic means to purchase their votes.

The opposition coalition claimed that information available to it shows that bank details of over ten million voters have been harvested by agents of the ruling party nationwide using different platforms to harvest the bank details and in a plot designed soon after the Central Bank of Nigeria announced the policy to redesign the Naira.
Mr. Ugochinyere continued, “This plot which has now received the approval at the highest level of the APC and its Presidential Campaign Council was also designed in Imo State and exported to twenty one other states of the federation requires the party’s agents harvesting names, account numbers and Voters Identification Numbers, Bank Verification Numbers of citizens and arranged in tables for each polling unit on the understanding that money will be sent to each person by electronic means to purchase their votes.”

CUPP said that in the Imo and Ebonyi States, this plot was being executed under the platform Support Group Coordination, South East while in other parts of the South East like in Abia, Enugu and Anambra it was being executed as All Progressives Congress Empowerment Form. In Katsina State and other parts of the North West, the plot was being executed under the Citizens Grassroots Farmers Association, in Ekiti State, they are operating under the Ekiti Development Front (EDF). In the North Central, Operation Wire-Wire was being executed under the North Central Women for Tinubu. In Cross River State, the details are harvested under the Forum of Tinubu Support Groups. In the rest of the country, the APC is harvesting details using the Vote Canvassing Form.
CUPP then called on the Banks and the Security Agencies to work together by identifying the illegal transactions in the banks and reporting the same to the security agencies for immediate prosecution. Mr. Ugochinyere went further to release damning evidence of this plot in several leaked document that shows the harvested names and bank accounts for the digital vote buying in those states.

Vote of confidence on INEC chairman

Following the publication of the voters’ register by the INEC, more shocking and fraudulent registrations in the voters’ register have come to the limelight, says the spokesperson of the CUPP, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.

He went further to commend the INEC Chairman for his swift action in the publication and cleaning up the register and the announcement that so far, over 2.7 million fake registrations have been weeded off the register. While noting that this action from INEC will harm the plan of those behind the fake registrations that were done to undermine a credible electoral process, he, however, released evidence that there are more fake registrations by way of underage voters, multiple registrations with one identity, registration of dead or foreign persons, particularly by the Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu.

CUPP then called on INEC and the Security Agencies to ensure that the culprits from the ruling APC behind the fake registrations were arrested and prosecuted. As they not only plot to taint the voters’ register but also want to stop the use of BVAS in the February elections by planning the removal of the INEC chairman on trumped-up charges for refusing to do their bidding.
The alarm also alleged that the Fake registrations were the foundation of the plot by the APC and its top echelon to continue to work hard to see that the INEC Chairman is removed from office as there is a signal for his arrest immediately he arrived the country. The CUPP therefore called on the President to direct for the withdrawal of the said signal as Nigerians would refuse to accept and also resist any plot to arrest the Chairman or force him out of office either through a forced resignation or otherwise or through any order of Court.

According to Ikenga, “The Presidential campaign of the APC has been in turmoil following the combined effects of the CBN Naira redesign policy and the INEC cleaning up of the register to remove all fake registrations uploaded to the register by the agents of the ruling party under the Omuma Magic operation.
