Yoruba Monarch, Alafin Of Oyo Is Dead

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has joined his ancestors at the age of 83 having ruled for over 5 decades.

This was disclosed by Palace officials who said he died on Friday night at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.

Reports his remains were received at Idi-Igba in Oyo town in the early hours of Saturday.

Recall that a few months ago, two First Class monarchs in the state, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji and the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi also joined their ancestors.

Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, is expected to make an official statement regarding the death of the mornach.
