A human rights activist and author, Comrade Paul Ikechukwu Njoku, has urged the Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Wale Fapohunda, not to attempt arresting Lere Olayinka, the former Media aide to former governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, like an armed robber.
“The purported declaration by the Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, to arrest Mr Lere Olayinka on sight by all and sundry without an official invitation by the constituted authorites in Nigeria is an utter violation of his fundamental human rights to life, rights to dignity and rights to fair hearing as enshrined in Chapter IV of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Mr. Wale Fapohunda should know that Nigeria is not a Banana Republic where responsible and law abiding citizens can be assaulted Andrew ruthlessly arrested in the street or in odd hours of the night like a terrorist or armed criminal whilst the armed bearing Fulani militia who masquerade as herdsmen are pampered and treated like first class citizens. Do not kill Lere Olayinka rather invite him with the tenets of the Law if you feel he committed any offense against the state”, Comrade Njoku decried.
Recall that Lere Olayinka wrote an open letter on Friday, April 30, 2021, accusing the Ekiti State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Wale Fapohunda, of plotting to arrest him with every unconstitutional arsenals on sight.
