Imo elders from Owerri zone clashed over the ongoing recovery of alleged stolen properties of Imo people from former governor Rochas Okorocha. While the elders led by Chief Marcus Onwanibe, in Owerri called on governor Hope Uzodimma not to resort to self-help in the recovery of the said properties and that the matter was still in court. But from the Owerri zone leaders of Thought, led by Chief Henry Njoku, Chief Executive Officer, ABM Global Service Group, Prince Alex Mbata, had called on Uzodimma to recover their ancestral lands hijacked from them. Speaking, Onwanibe, said: “Our attention was drawn to a Press Statement purported to have emanated from a meeting of a group that tagged itself, Owerri zone leaders of thought, a few days ago. “After we had extensively and objectively x-rayed the stand of those who met in the name of “Owerri Zone leaders of thought”, and the current situation in the State, we resolved as follows: “That, His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodinma and his government should pursue peace and ensure peace and avoid any action that is capable of disturbing or distorting the peace of the State. “That, the governor should shun any advice to resort to self-help or unconventional methods in resolving the issues they have with the former governor of the State, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha. “That, we are aware that matters Concerning Senator Okorocha and the reports of the Panels vis-à-vis the Whitepaper are all pending in various Courts of our land. “It is therefore very important and advisable to allow the Courts to decide on the issues before them. That is the most Civilized thing to do. Any other approach is self-help and should not be encouraged. “That, those who think they have any evidence against Okorocha should either apply to the Courts to be joined or appear as witnesses to the matters in question instead of advocating and calling for actions that could throw the State into an unimaginable crisis.” Earlier, stakeholders from Owerri zone had met and issued a communique to newsmen in Owerri, as signed by top stakeholders among which are Chief Henry Njoku, Chief Executive Officer, ABM Global Service Group, Prince Alex Mbata, as well as lawmakers and traditional rulers. According to them, “We hereby wholeheartedly, affirm and endorse the resolutions of Imo stakeholders held on Saturday 27, 2021. “That we are happy with the development progress so far recorded by the administration of governor Hope Uzodimma. Who has in so short time restored the pride of our people? “By the recovery of the state and indigenous lands illegally hijacked and appropriated by yesterday’s men of power who ruled us wickedly. “That we support every policy of governor Hope Uzodimma, particularly full implementation of the white paper on lands to recover our common patrimony more so when the land in our state capital is Owerri land acquired by the state government. “We urge all Owerri people to support and continue in solidarity with governor Hope Uzodimma administration,” they said. 3 OPC members docked, remanded over allegations of burning Wakili’s house

Three members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) were on Wednesday docked before Chief Magistrate Olaide Hamzat of the Oyo State Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Iyaganku in Ibadan over allegations of murder and arson. The trio; Awodele Adedigba (45); Dauda Kazeem (38) and Hassan Ramon (33) were presented before the court on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, murder and arson. The prosecuting counsel, Inspector Opeyemi Olagunju had alleged before the court that the suspects had on March 7, 2021, at about 8 a.m at Kajola village in Ayete, caused the death of a 45-year-old woman. He further alleged that the trio of Awodele, Dauda and Hassan allegedly set fire to the house of the Ibarapa “warlord” Abdullahi Wakili, valued at N5 million, an offence which he said contravenes the provisions of Sections 316, 324, 443 and 516 of the Criminal Code of Oyo State 2000. However, the pleas of the suspects were not taken due to issues surrounding the inherent jurisdiction of the court to hear matters of that nature, so the court ordered that the trio be remanded at the Abolongo Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Oyo Magistrate Hamzat further ordered the police to send the case file to the office of the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and adjourned the matter till April 21, 2021, for mention.

Drama As Lawan Forces Abaribe To Withdraw Armed Forces Commission Bill

Senators on Wednesday were locked in a heated debate over a bill seeking to establish Armed Forces Service Commission. Leading the debate, Sponsor of the bill, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, said the Commission would ensure that the composition and appointment of the service chiefs of the armed forces reflect federal character in a manner prescribed in section 217 (3) of the 1999 constitution. Lawmakers, who backed the bill, argued that the bill stands on a very strong constitutional ground and also invited the Senate to exercise its constitutional rights. Others, who opposed it, said the establishment of the Commission would politicise the armed forces, which, they argued, was dangerous for the peace and unity of the country. After the debate, the bill were put to a voice vote by Senate President Ahmad Lawan. “The nays had it” Lawan banged the gavel. Quickly, Abaribe stood up and cited order 73, which says that any Senator can challenge the ruling of the presiding officer. He therefore called for voting on the bill. But Lawan interjected and said the ruling was not his personal opinion. He said, “It is not my opinion that the nays had it. I didn’t rule inappropriately.” But Abaribe insisted that it is his right to call for voting on the bill, saying, “I’m only saying give me my right and my right is that all our members should get up and vote.” At this point, Senator James Manager (PDP, Delta) advised the Senate President to allow voting to take place. After about seven minutes in limbo, the Senate went into a closed door session. When the Senate reconvened, Lawan asked Abaribe to withdraw the bill and he did, saying he would review it and present it at a more appropriate time.

He said this at a training workshop for state commandants of the NSCDC which held in Abuja on Wednesday Audu said what is required to tackle the security situation is a collaboration among security agencies in the country. “Following how events are unfolding in the country, we are experiencing a serious conflict that I think in the history of Nigeria, this is about the first conflict that will give us a serious problem and the conflict is called asymmetric war. “We have had in the past some semblance of this type of war but the proper manifestation of it is the one we are seeing ow and asymmetric war is a war that requires all hands to be on deck if we really want to deal with it and nip it in the bud. “These guys are serious; these guys have international sponsors, so we need to come together,” the NSCDC boss said. Astrazeneca Vaccine Doesn’t Kill

By Paul Ikechukwu Njoku I have clinically read much about the numerous imaginary but frightening reports and vicariously induced anxiety paddled by some irredeemable conspiracy theorists concerning the Oxford Astrazeneca Vaccine. In as much as it is important to ask questions and engage on a due diligence, it is not irresponsible to know why some people are so riled up about this Astrazeneca Vaccine. Over 17 million people have received the vaccine with minimum cases of blood clot and minor symptoms globally. This is far less than the average population expected to have blood clots. In USA for instance, there is an annual recorded history of 300, 000-600, 000 blood clots cases which is about 1000-2000 cases per day. Therefore, the cases of blood clots reporting is within what is expected naturally. Before the vaccine is administered, side effects are mentioned to enable patients make an informed consent. I urge all and sundry to take the vaccine as it does not kill. To put things in proper perspective, there are known side effects for Panadol as highlighted by medical formulary. “Abdominal pain, Abnormal vision, Agranulocytosis, Allergic reaction, Anaphylactic reaction, Anaphylactic shock, Angioedema, Blood dyscrasias, Bronchospasm, Changes in heptic function, confusion, Depression, Diarrhoea, Dizziness, Erythema multiforme, Haemolytic anaemia, Haemorrhage, Hallucination, Headache, Hepatic disorders, Hepatic failure, Hepatitis, Hepatotoxicity, Hypoglycemia, Interstitial nephritis, Jaundice, Leucopenia, Liver damage, Malaise, Nausea, Neutropenia, Oedema, Pancytopenia, Papillary necrosis, Pruritus, Purpura, Pyrexia, Rash, Renal impairment, Sedation, Stevens-johnson syndrome, Sweating, Thrombocytopenia, Toxic epidermal necrolysis, Tremor, Urticaria, Vertigo and Vomiting”. Some of the above Panadol-associated illnesses are very scary but very uncommon. So, why can you not be vaccinated for few symptoms and get yourself immuned from the novel coronavirus pandemic ravaging the World? There are allergic reactions to shrimps and peanuts. One main reason why 81mg aspirin is recommended for people with history of high blood pressure after 40 is clot and transmission in the blood systems know as thromboembolism. People will go under emergency surgery without batting an eye and thinking about anesthetic drugs well documented for various adverse effects. Please, get vaccinated and do not be deceived.
