Ortom to FG: Declare Miyetti Allah as terrorist organisation

Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to “declare the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) as a terrorist organisation”. The call is coming hours after the federal government gazetted an order designating bandits as terrorists. In a statement on Thursday, Nathaniel Ikyur, chief press secretary (CPS), quoted the governor as saying that the organisation has vowed to “cause havoc” in Benue. “Though the federal government’s measures on bandits now seems strong, the security challenges will only be adequately addressed if similar hard position is taken on Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, MACBAN, and the Fulani Nationality Movement (FUNAM) who have vowed and continued to cause mayhem in Benue State and other parts of the country because of the anti-grazing laws,” the statement reads. For us in Benue State, the law has come to stay. It is irrevocable. In fact, we have maintained our position that Benue State has no grazing routes, reserves or areas so whatever. “It was enacted in good faith for peace and order in the state. It was done among other things to end the incessant farmers/herdsmen clashes in the state. “Nigerians have absorbed enough hunger and misery in the hands of the All Progressives Congress (APC) misrule. Or is it possible that Mr. President is not aware that Nigerians are dying from his misrule?” Ortom also urged Nigerians to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “The PDP is ready to rescue Nigeria from the insecurity and economic horror placed on Nigerians by the APC”, he said, adding that “the party is better prepared with laudable programmes on the welfare of Nigerians and to rebuild the nation from the APC tale of woes”.

He is selfish and a parasite. “Even Jesus endorsed tithing. He endorsed first fruit offering. These are principles, they are not laws,” he said. He also gave an instance of Abraham in the book of Genesis who gave his tithe to God, saying “there was no law in Genesis, but principle based on the Spirit of God”. Cautioning the congregation against “false teaching” circulating on social media, he said, “Don’t let those who quote few verses to become your pastors online. Come to Faith Clinic, open Bible and ask questions”. life better — Islamic cleric confesses “Offer your tithes and first fruit offering. Law didn’t come until exodus 20. The very first fruit was in Genesis when Abel gave his first fruit while his brother Cain failed to do so,” he explained. He further noted that God rejected cain’s offering not because he brought bad harvest as purportedly claimed by some Sunday school teachers, but because Abel gave first fruit offering. “God is only asking for your 10%, you still have the 90%. If 90% is not going to be enough for you, 100% can never be enough for you,” he said.

Jonathan Visits Aso Rock

Former President Goodluck Jonathan visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday. According to presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, Jonathan briefed Buhari on the political development in the Republic of Mali. Adesina said a special meeting of ECOWAS, which will hold in Ghana, on Sunday, to deliberate on the political situation in Mali. He said that was the subject of the parley between the Head of the ECOWAS Mediation Team, former President, Jonathan, and President Buhari. He said the President repeated his earlier avowal that whatever Nigeria would do on the Mali situation would be done within the ambit of ECOWAS. In a separate statement earlier issued on Thursday, Buhari, who also received a Special Envoy from Col. Assimi Goita, the Transitional President of Mali, promised that Nigeria would do her level best for the sister country, within the requirements of ECOWAS. Col. Abdoulaye Maiga, Mali’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, led a team, which briefed President Buhari on Conclusions from the National Conference on State-Rebuilding, held in Bamako, December 27-30, 2021. Responding to the comprehensive briefing, the President said nobody could love Mali more than Malians themselves, counselling that everyone should work within the tenets of ECOWAS, in order to restore constitutional order to the West African country at the shortest possible time. “I am pleased you have briefed the ECOWAS Chairman too,’’ said President Buhari. “Nigeria will work within ECOWAS limitations to assist Mali. Every country has its issues. We fought our own Civil War before, so we may not know the totality of the internal politics of each country. But we will make as much sacrifice as we can for Mali, within ECOWAS requirements.” The Special Envoy expressed gratitude to Nigeria for support to his country in terms of bilateral relations, and for the help rendered to the ECOWAS Mediation Team, led by former President Goodluck Jonathan. He said the vision of Col. Goita was speedy return to democracy, adding that Mali wants to review laws guiding elections, “and professionalize the process.”

Fayemi: Entrenched interests within APC plotting against me over 2023 elections

The government of Ekiti has raised the alarm on an alleged plot by “some political interests” to defame Kayode Fayemi, governor of the state. In a statement, Yinka Oyebode, the governor’s chief press secretary, alleged that some persons within the All Progressive Congress (APC) are uncomfortable with Fayemi’s “rising profile” and are looking for ways to de-market him as the 2023 presidential election draws near. He added that the plan is to discredit Fayemi and make him unacceptable to the public. “The general public is hereby alerted of a fresh plot by some political interests to activate a spate of negative media campaigns against the person of Dr Kayode Fayemi, Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF),” Oyebode said. The plot, as uncovered, is to use some faceless political groups and political jobbers from different parts of the country to defame the Ekiti State Governor. “Specifically, the plan is to use the faceless groups to discredit Governor Fayemi and portray him as unacceptable to the generality of the people across the six geo-political zones of the country. This plot is part of their game plan for the 2023 presidential contest. “For the avoidance of doubt, Dr Fayemi has not told anyone that he is in the race for the Presidency of Nigeria. He has always maintained that he is on duty in Ekiti and would like to concentrate on that assignment. What he does afterwards is in the hands of God and he will cross that bridge at the appropriate time. He restated this position during his most recent interview with Arise TV on January 1, 2022. Some entrenched interests within the ruling All Progressives Congress, however, seem uncomfortable with the rising profile of the NGF Chairman and have resorted to cheap blackmail aimed at de-marketing him. “We urge members of the public to disregard the potpourri of lies and cheap blackmail that could be released in the coming days, while the promoters of this smear campaign are advised to concentrate on marketing their aspiration to the good people of Nigeria without recourse to defamation or character assassination of perceived competitors. “The Nigerian Constitution states clearly the qualifications for the position of the President of the country. Every qualified adult has the right to aspire to the number one position. Therefore, we do not believe it is proper, decent or strategic for any aspirant to think his campaign can only gather momentum when he destroys the reputation of a fellow citizen who is perceived as a possible opponent.”
