Ex-Rivers gov candidate dumps APC over Muslim-Muslim ticket

A former governorship candidate in Rivers State, Tonye Princewill, has dumped the All Progressives Congress, citing the Muslim-Muslim ticket for the presidential election in 2023. The party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, had picked former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, as his running mate. Primcewill, a philanthropist, chieftain of the APC, and an ally to the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, contested the governorship position in the state under the Labour Party in 2015. His resignation was contained in a letter he addressed to the Chairman of the APC in his ward, Tahhed Royal Ward in Buguma, Asar Toru Local Government Area, dated July 12, 2022. Princewill, while expressing his dismay over the choice of the party in fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket said he could not argue for equity in his state and defend inequality in the country. While thanking Amaechi who he called his leader for all his efforts, he said it was insensitive for the party to do so despite protests from religious and political divides across the country. The letter read in part, “I can’t argue for equity in my state and defend inequity in my country. “While I appreciate my leader, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and all his efforts, I cannot defend the decision of my party, in fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket, especially at a time like this, against all protestations from well-meaning Nigerians, across religious and political divides. “It sets a very wrong precedent, it is totally insensitive and even if you win, will prove bad to good governance. “Under these dire circumstances, I find no justification to still remain, in good conscience, a member of a political party that subordinates electoral victory over the safety of lives and the peace of mind of its citizens. “The men and women of our party here in Rivers are the most loyal and faithful supporters I have met. They know what is right and wrong. “And they know me. I enjoyed working with them and I’m so sad to leave. But an APC party that totally disregards the basics of the same equity we preach, is alien to me. “Buhari resisted the same temptation and chose a little-known Osinbajo and won. By doing this, Tinubu is saying that a northern Christian has no electoral value. My staying means I agree. “I wish you well. And I remain grateful to our leader (Rotimi Amaechi), but I can not defend the indefensible, to be totally honest, neither should you.”

Bagudu: APC governors very proud of Tinubu’s choice of running mate

Atiku Bagudu, governor of Kebbi, says governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are pleased with the choice of Kashim Shettima as the vice-presidential candidate of the party. On Sunday, Bola Tinubu, APC presidential candidate, announced Shettima, former Borno governor, as his running mate for the 2023 general election. Speaking on Monday after a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina, Bagudu said the Tinubu-Shettima ticket is the “best team” for the presidency. “Kashim Shettima is one of Nigeria’s finest and we believe he brings a lot of value to the presidential ticket,” Bagudu said. “So, we are quite pleased and we pray that his formidable capacity will complement the well-known capacity of our presidential flagbearer, and Nigerians will be convinced this is about the best team that the parties in this 2022 primary season has produced. “Governors are very proud. We have congratulated Mr. President that under his leadership, one of the most transparent primaries took place which saw the emergence of asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as our presidential flagbearer. “Governors are very very pleased. We are very very proud. We are equally very happy that the vice-presidential candidate is no less a person than Kashim Shettima and we believe that they will give traction to the campaign and complement all the achievements of the last seven years under President Muhammadu Buhari. Advertisement “We believe the track record of the achievements overwhelmed any unmet expectation. It’s life that no matter how hard you work, some things may not be accomplished as you wish. “For example, we fought in the last seven years, two world recessions, COVID pandemic and now we’re dealing with the Russia-Ukraine war that is affecting every part of the globe. Yet, Nigeria has remained resilient because of the policies that have been pursued by President Muhammadu Buhari and embraced by state governors — both those of APC and non-APC states.”

Ukraine To Begin Football Season In August In Spite Of War

Ukraine will launch its new football season despite Russia’s ongoing invasion, the country’s sports minister said Monday. “The Ukrainian football championship will start on August 23,” Vadym Gutsait said on Facebook. “We agreed to work out… the procedure for organising and holding competitions under martial law,” he added. Ukrainian football clubs decided in April to end the previous season early after it was suspended following Russia’s invasion. Shakhtar Donetsk led Dynamo Kyiv by two points in the Ukraine championship when the season was interrupted, but the league decided not to award the title. The minister said that the matches of the new season will be held in the territory of Ukraine, but without spectators and with mandatory observance of all safety rules. “During air raids, matches will be stopped and football players, coaches and the staff must quickly go to a shelter,” Gutsait said. Much of Ukraine’s football infrastructure, such as stadiums and training grounds, has been damaged in Russian strikes and many foreign players have left Ukrainian teams after Moscow sent troops to Ukraine on February 24. Earlier on Monday, Shakhtar announced that its Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi has left the club by mutual consent. AFP

Directors of 10 banks pocket N6.96bn allowance, compensation

Directors of 10 banks collected N6.96bn sitting allowance and compensation in 2021, according to an analysis of the lenders’ financial results. The amount represents an increase of 3.32 per cent from N6.74bn the directors received in 2020. The 10 banks are: United Bank for Africa Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, FBN Holdings and Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc. Others are: Union Bank for Nigeria Plc, Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, FCMB group Plc, Wema Bank Plc, Fidelity Bank Plc and Unity Bank Plc. Extracts from audited financial results and accounts for the full year ended December 31, 2021 revealed that Zenith Bank, followed by Stanbic IBTC Holdings, reported the highest sitting allowances and compensation, while Unity Bank reported the least. Zenith Bank in 2021 reported a total of N1.65bn executive compensation, fees and sitting allowances, an increase of 18.06 per cent from the N1.4bn reported in 2020. The breakdown shows that Zenith Bank in 2021 paid its directors N1.09bn compensation from N992m in 2020, while its fees and sitting allowances rose significantly by 38.9 per cent to N568m in 2021 from N409m in 2020. For Stanbic IBTC Holdings, the total sitting allowance and compensation to its directors rose by 19.9 per cent to N1.672m in 2021 from N1.394m reported in 2020. Stanbic IBTC Holdings in its report said, “The group will continue to ensure its remuneration policies and practices remain competitive, drive performance and are aligned across the Group and with its values.” FBN Holdings’ executive sitting allowances and compensation rose by 15.7 per cent to N162m in 2021 from N140m in 2020. However, two notable Tier-1 banks reported a decline in executive compensations, fees and sitting allowances. Specifically, GTCO and UBA reported a 17.8 per cent and 6.3 per cent drops, respectively, in their executive compensation and sitting allowances. For instance, as GTCO’s executive compensation dropped to N757.35m in 2021 from N921.36m in 2020, UBA’s executive compensation, fees and sitting allowances dropped from N762m in 2020 to N714m in 2021. An analysis of others banks’ executive compensation, fees and sitting allowances shows that FCMB Group reported N828.12m in 2021, an increase of 22.9 per cent from N674.09m in 2020, while Union Bank of Nigeria Plc reported 9.6 per cent drop in its directors’ sitting allowance and executive compensation to N525m in 2021 from N581m 2020. As Wema Bank reported N297.84m executive compensation/fees for the second consecutive year, Unity Bank grew its sitting allowances by 3.9 per cent to N38.6m in 2021 from N37.15 in 2020. In addition, Fidelity Bank reported N312m executive compensation, fees and sitting allowances in 2021, a decline of 41 per cent from N529m reported in 2020. Reacting, the Chairman, Progressive Shareholders Association of Nigeria, Boniface Okezie, said although it was important for banks to remunerate their directors properly, there was also the need to ensure this was not done recklessly. According to him, there is a need for the Central Bank of Nigeria to beam its searchlight on banks’ total payment to directors, warning that it will be wrong for the directors to feed fat at the expense of depositors and other stakeholders. Okezie said, “These are the issues the CBN needs to look at. The directors deserve to be well-remunerated but the CBN needs to put a peg on this. There is no point directors feeding fat while the interests of other stakeholders are not well protected.”

Insecurity: We Can No Longer Tell Buhari What He Wants To Hear – ACF

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has said Nigeria’s “rapid descent” into strife, violence and lawlessness is getting to a point at which it can no longer tell President Muhammadu Buhari only what he wants to hear. In a statement, Secretary-General of ACF, Murtala Aliyu, asked the president to reprioritise his programmes and free more resources to end the pervasive insecurity in the country. He said over the past few months, the security crisis in Nigeria has been deepening and there is a dangerous escalation of violence and bloodshed. “Criminal gangs, bandits, armed robbers, secessionist insurgents along with those that call themselves soldiers of so-called caliphate, have laid siege to Nigeria. More so in the northern states.” “Although we count ourselves amongst his ardent supporters and have always wished him well, Nigeria’s rapid descent into strife, violence and lawlessness is getting to a point at which we can no longer afford to tell him only what he wants to hear. “We do need to tell the president what he also needs to hear. We simply are unable to find any courteous or less painful words to describe the feeling of utter frustration among the broad masses of Nigeria, especially in the North, arising from the ineffectual management of the security crises by the president. “The regime needs to reprioritise its programmes and free more resources needed to end the pervasive insecurity that is bringing the country to its knees. We have a duty to tell the president what he needs to hear, which is that the patience of Nigerians is not limitless.” Aliyu said the highly coordinated attack on the Kuje Prison in the Federal Capital (FCT), Abuja, and the mass escape of hardened criminals, many of whom are Boko Haram terrorists, have triggered an unprecedented wave of apprehension and panic among the long-suffering people, particularly of the North. “Coming around the time the advance convoy of Mr. President heading to Daura and long after the deadly attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train on 28th March, 2022, in which many people were killed and a lot more kidnapped, the question on the lips of the public, is how and when will these crises, which are unprecedented in severity, leave us? “We noted that the response of President Muhammadu Buhari to the Kuje Prison tragedy in particular was to offer the familiar cocktail of platitudes, of sermons, condemnations and yet more sermons. As usual, the president asked the security services to ‘investigate’ the outbreak and find out what led to it. “Presumably, in the view of the president, that was all that he was expected or required to do in the circumstances.” He added that the president in his Sallah message promised to deal with the situation before the end of his tenure saying, “As long as the crisis remains unabating, Nigerians will justifiably conclude that the government is ineffective and needs to do more if they will ever be able to quell the crises.” “Probably because President Buhari is unable or unwilling to hold his appointees responsible for any deterioration of the security situation and some other socioeconomic sectors under their watch, the vast amount of money and other resources being pumped into the security agencies have largely been ineffective. “The required boost in manpower and equipment, long recognized as the missing link in the current campaign, have remained largely unimplemented to the required level needed to secure the nation. “In other countries, the Kuje jail attack and similar ones that have happened in parts of Nigeria would have led to massive reshuffle, resignation and possibly prosecution of officials who were negligent, incompetent or plainly untrustworthy. “No person other than the president has both the mandate and responsibility to ensure that the government of Nigeria maintains peace, security, order and good governance. We demand that President Buhari braces up without further delay and rise to today’s occasion,” he stressed.

Fuel scarcity worsens, Abuja black marketeers sell N350/litre

The lingering fuel scarcity worsened in some parts of the country with motorists buying petrol between N300 and N350-litre in Abuja on Monday. Some Abuja residents, who spoke with our correspondent, lamented the spike in the price of PMS as well as the difficulties experienced in accessing the product. A motorist, who gave his name as Michael Adebanjo, said black marketeers were selling fuel between N300 to N350 as of Monday. He said, “I’ve been buying from black marketeers between N300 to N350 per litre. There is no fuel in most filling stations in Abuja. The ones that have, there’s a very long queue. Since, I don’t have the time to wait, I often resort to the black market.” Another motorist, who gave his name as Ubong Edet, said that while he was able to buy the product for N250 at a filling station over the weekend, difficulty in accessing it forced him to buy at N300 per litre at the black market. “I bought for N250 on Saturday. I had to join a very long queue before I could even get it that day. Today, it was even more difficult. The queues are something else. So I decided to buy black market today. I bought it for N300 per litre.” In Abuja, Khalif filling station in Kubwa, had dispensed the commodity at N250/litre on Sunday but had N165/litre displayed on its pumps. But once a motorist tells the fuel attendant the amount he or she wishes to buy, this would be calculated based on black market rate. The queues for petrol in Abuja has never ceased since February this year, but it grew worse in neighbouring states of Nasarawa and Niger on Sunday as motorists search for PMS to use to move around during the Sallah break. Oil marketers denied claims of products’ hoarding or diversion, as they stressed that the insufficient supply of PMS by NNPC and the non-payment of bridging claims for the transportation of petrol were the key reasons for the scarcity. The President, Petroleum Products Retail Outlets owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry, told our correspondent that filling stations that had products were dispensing, while those that were shut had no petrol to sell. However, further checks show that the queues for Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, reduced in some parts of Abuja and neighbouring Nasarawa and Niger states on Monday as more filling stations dispensed the product to motorists. It was observed that more filling stations on the Kubwa-Zuba road, Airport Road, Central Business District, among other locations in Abuja had reduced queues on Monday. Retail outlets such as AY Shafa in Deidei, NNPC mega station along Kubwa-Zuba road, Major Oil on Airport Road, and many others dispensed petrol to motorists. The reduced queues, according to marketers, may be due to the fewer number of vehicles on the roads as many residents of the capital city were believed to have travelled to observe the Sallah break outside Abuja. The National Secretary, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chief John Kekeocha, however, stated that more trucks had loaded products and were heading Abuja. He told our correspondent that “we are hopeful that very soon the queues in Abuja and environs will clear if all things remain equal and there is no continued agitation for payment of bridging claims. “On price disparity, this is because many marketers bought their products at higher rates above what was approved by the government and they have to get the required margin in order to remain in business.” Kekeocha added, “However, there has been no official pronouncement of any review in petrol price whether upward or otherwise. So the official price of petrol still remains at the N165/litre government-approved rate.”

Hiding under Obi to discredit Ihedioha is infantile, senseless

By Ori Martins I would have completely ignored the current infantile social media attack targeted against Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, but for the involvement of two prominent Mbaise personalities mischievously associated with the ongoing ill tailored slings on the former governor of Imo State. The sponsors and spin doctors of these disjointed, carelessly scripted and recklessly circulating social media missiles are not well informed. In spite of their failed attempts of employing two great, worthy Mbaise wards., Prof Edward Oparaoji and Prof Uzodinma Nwala, to legitimatize their dirty deals, they still did not get their acts right. Their prose was sorrowfully porous., their argument pathetically hollow while their delivery lacked tact – unconvincing. The case here is very clear and even a toddler can detect these agents of darkness’ anger and frustration. Of course, they are aware that they cannot measure Ihedioha’s political capacity, reach and tentacles. They had at one time or the other confronted him and he towered head and shoulders above them. Even recently, they were among the marauders who attempted to cause a political putsch by disingenuously plotting to take over Ihedioha’s structure in Imo State. But they were consumed in the crossfire they fanned. Therefore, upon being informed that Ihedioha was holding town hall meetings overseas, they miserably colluded to open their machine gun at him. Unfortunately for them, their piping pins failed abysmally. The charge they brought against Ihedioha was in two folds to wit: he is going contrary to the avowed Mbaiseness of Mbaise., that he never supported Peter Obi during the PDP presidential primary election even as he is in London now campaigning against the former Anambra State governor. In all practical purposes, these charges are both infantile and senseless as they hold no water at all. The fact is that, except, perhaps, the legendary and iconic late music maestro Dr/Sir Warrior of the Oriental Brothers International fame, no other Mbaise, dead or alive, has promoted or bought up Mbaise as a nation to the outer world in positivity more than Ihedioha. As the deputy speaker of the Federal House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015, Ihedioha, then a presiding officer, brought honour and glory not just to Mbaise but also to Imo State, South East and Ndigbo in general. While his huge contributions to the growth and development of constitution, constitutionalism., and bills that brought about massive infrastructural execution may not be necessary to be recapped here, it must be stated that, in all his 12 years sojourn as a legislator, Ihedioha, till date, has never been questioned, named, mentioned or dragged about by any law enforcement agency in the country. That is, he not corrupt. He has no skeleton in his cupboard. This record is immaculate as well as it is unparalleled!!! Certainly, this nationally acclaimed impeccable track record attracks envy by Ihedioha’s political peers and it is quite understandable. His seven/eight months stewardship as governor of Imo State was quite super and superb. He proved that Imo could fly again. He was balanced in his appointments based on merit, capacity and they covered the three geo political zones. As a matter of fact, Ihedioha delivered and Imo people still love him for it. Again, the executioners who succeeded him are still searching for what they could lay their hands on to nail him. But they cannot because he was honest and sincere. The second charge was on Obi. Yes. Peter Obi. Most of us are very much aware that Ihedioha had made all necessary preparations to receive Obi while he was still campaigning for the presidency on the platform of PDP. However, the saying that man proposes while God disposes, take the front bench. It was most unfortunate. Obi came to Imo without Ihedioha coming out to receive him. Moments later, Sokoto governor was here and Ihedioha was on hand to receive him. It will take a disciplined mind, a godly conscience and a trained soul to take it that Ihedioha planned to receive Obi but couldn’t because of unforseen circumstances. It was an unfortunate situation that could happen to anyone. You can take it, you can leave it. The second leg here was that Ihedioha travelled all the way to London to bring down Obi so as to elevate Atiku Abubaka. This is really laughable. For those who know Ihedioha and how he plays his politics, he is never a public showman – he never does things for applause. Ihedioha believes in processes and procedures. That is, why should Ihedioha go to London at this particular time to campaign for Atiku when the time for this is still ahead? For now, Ihedioha remains a PDP chief and not Atiku’s campaign manager or director – he can be tomorrow. By the way, why have the sponsors of these ruthless allegations not come up with video clips of Ihedioha camping for Atiku in London? The man who said he came to his church to preach Atikulation, why is it difficult for him to ply the video tapes of where Ihedioha was doing what he claimed? You see, you can deceive a blind man about oil not being in a food, you cannot do so when it comes to salt as he will feel it himself. This insult against an innocent man must stop. Ihedioha is a true Mbaise son of the soil. A patriotic Imo, a good Igbo and a Nigerian star!

Kuje invasion: Impeach Buhari Now, CD/HURIDE Tell National Assembly

The Members of National Assembly have been told to commence immediate impeachment procedure of President Muhammadu Buhari over the attack on Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja recently. Human Righ,t Liberty Access, and Peace, Defenders’ Foundation (HURIDE) and Campaign for Democracy (CD) in a joint statement said that latest security breaches in the country were clear indication that President Buhari has lost control of providing leadersip to the country. “Going by the obvious and glaring security breaches in the country especially Kuje Correctional Centre invasion by Boko Haram insurgents and the deadly attack on the convoy of advance team of President Muhammad Buhari’ in Daura, Katsina State few days ago we call for immediate impeachment of the president”said HURIDE and CD in their joint statement. In the statement signed by Dede Uzor A. Uzor, Executive Director, HURIDE and Chairman, South East Zone, CD, after their meeting in Abuja, the groups said Nigerians have died under Buhari more than during the war time. They said: “The purported withdrawal of soldiers 24 hours before the invasion of Kuje prison called for a thorough and discreet investigation. Nigeria is becoming a failed state like Somalia, Southern Sudan and Afghanistan among other terror-infested nations”. The groups continued :”The National Assembly has no option but to commence the process of impeachment of the President without further delay before he hands this county to islamists and Fulanists”. The rights groups said with the ongoing economic woes, unabated security threats like kidnapping for ransom, and attacks on the national’s critical assets and other threats, it is obvious that the president is either confused or playing pranks with Nigerians. The groups which made the call after an emergency general meeting in Abuja warned that if something drastic is not done now, the 2023 general election may not hold and it will spell doom for Nigeria. They condemned the president’s penchant to always jet out of the country even when he had a crisis at hand to deal with, saying that it showed his lack of passion for peace and stability of the country, rather was more interested in travelling abroad than working hard to restore peace at home. Uzodimma’s satanic verses

By Ori Martins Governor Hope Uzodimma is not a Satan. He is not a Devil either. The Imo governor is a human being. And, like every human, he has good and bad sides. Uzodimma’s flaws, in comparison, outweigh his strong points. Most times, his comments, contradictions and general performance can be said to be satanic because they go against the laws of nature and all known relevant established norms. The nucleus of all Uzodimma’s failings and acrobatic static verses were his emergence as the governor of Imo State. Finishing fourth in the March 9, 2019 governorship election, Uzodimma, in a most satanic fashion, played around the supreme court of Nigeria and the apex court controversially installed him governor on January 14, 2020. The world stood in condemnation of that judgement. Upon assumption of office in the face of gale of protests, Uzodimma, unmindful of his utterances, recklessly informed his dejected and helpless subjects that he had discovered a condit through which his predecessors milked the state dry. He pledged that upon blocking the leakage, he would be saving the whopping sum of N2b monthly for his dear Imo people. It is about 26 months since Uzodimma made the above pledge. If you multiply 26 months by N2b monthly, it will be equal to N52b. So, there is N52b in Imo State, yet hunger, starvation, deceases, unemployment, insecurity and collapsed infrastructure continue to confront Imo people on daily basis! If this is true (N52B in Imo ‘s vault), then, it is satanic that the sufferings of Imolites are this humongous. If it is not true, then the governor told a satanic lie even from day one. And so the governor, unprepared for governance, by his own account and in his own words, confirmed the fear of most Imolites that his emergence was through a static verse, proclaimed it to the rooftop that he became governor using the Ben Johnson formula. Ben Johnson was the highly criminalized 100 and 200 metres athlete who used banned steroids to catapult himself to questionable victory in the 1988 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA. Johnson’s speed was electrifying. His comprehensive road to Olympic stardom was highly unimaginable and contradicted every known athletic rule or regulation. The world athletics governing body was forced to put Johnson’s record to scrutiny and the Canadian came crashing – he cheated. Subsequently, he was banned and his in- glorious medals stripped of him. Today, Johnson is a classic example as well as a reference point to cheating and whatever corruption represents. And this is the man Uzodimma chooses to compare himself with. It was more of a Freudian slip than a slip of tongue. And whichever prism you periscope it, it amounts to a satanic verse. Probably, nothing establishes Uzodimma’s satanic utterances albeit administrative cluelessness than his well advertised billions of naira rabbit scheme meant to boast agriculture in Imo State. Of course, rabbit is not the mainstay of farmers in the state. It is not a mainstream project. It is foreign to Ndigbo in general and Imo agriculturists in particular. If the governor meant well, if he really wanted to uplift the face of agriculture in the state, using the best of international standard practices, he would have applied the simple method of proximity or locale approach. That is, what are the things common to Imo farmers? And he would have known about poultry, snail, pig, goat, fish, sheep, dog., crop and other forms of farming outlets very beneficial to farmers of this clime. But, you see, because of the governors’ inclination to static verses, he does not seem to practically understand the import of people oriented schemes and projects. You now do a proper overview of sports in Imo State since the years of Uzodimma. What beholds you is a pathetic situation. The Dan Anyiam Stadium is more or less a play ground as you read this. The Grasshoppers International Handball Pitch has now been abandoned for reptiles of all kinds even as the female handball team, then respected, admired and adored all round the continent of Africa, is now non existent. As Grasshoppers are in ruination, Heartland FC are on a life support machine. The team are among the four clubs to be relegated to the lower division after this season. Under the watch of Uzodimma, the state owned team will go down for the second time in history. The first disaster was supervised by then governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha in 2016. Both Grasshoppers and Heartland were for many seasons Nigerian champions. Grasshoppers were African champions in 1982 and finalists in 1987. Heartland FC were African finalists in 1988 and 2009. But under Uzodimma, both indomitable sides are facing extinction and liquidation. What a tragedy. What a fate. Still elements of Uzodimma’s satanic verses in full operations. There were civil disobedience in the Orlu Zone of Imo State. Uzodimma, in his capacity as the chief security officer of the state, invited the army for intervention. Ever since then, almost the entire Orlu Zone has never known peace. The question is: what was the rule of engagement given to the army brought to Imo State? Since then, insecurity has been the lot of Imolites. Since then, Imo State is replete with killings and kidnappings of all proportions. Not quite long ago, the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was involved in all meaner of doubts concerning his birthplace, age, education and parental background, as well as state of origin. Nigerians of all walks of life agreed that Senator Tinubu had questions to answer pertaining to his CV. Uzodimma, characteristically, told Nigerians that Tinubu has no question to answer. He fired an eternal salvo to the effect that INEC must be blamed for the former Lagos governor’s faux pas. Another satanic verse. Just last weekend, Uzodimma came out again with an ugly scripted satanic verse. He called on South East to shun opposition politics if the marginalized zone must ever be taken seriously at the centre.

APC Muslim- Muslim ticket: Tinubu free to choose any anyone – Bishop Kukah

Revered Catholic Bishop, Matthew Kukah, said Tinubu was free to pick whoever he wanted just as a coach is free to select the players on his team. Kukah, who is the Bishop of the Sokoto Diocese, said it was up to Nigerians to decide if they want a Muslim-Muslim President and Vice-President or not. He said, “This is what you call team selection and everybody will choose depending on what they think will give them a fair chance. So people will take responsibility for the choices they have made. For me, it is not something to lose sleep over. “If people feel unhappy with the kind of choices that have been made, that is why we are democrats, you can’t force it. We outsiders cannot force a choice of any candidate. It is now left for you to look at the choices that have been made. And there is no guarantee that all Christians will vote for Christians and all Muslims will vote for Muslims”
